ERSTE WWF STOCK ENVIRONMENT

Investing in funds with environmental awareness

A fund for the environment

With ERSTE WWF STOCK ENVIRONMENT, you are choosing a fund that invests in environmental companies worldwide with a focus on water treatment and supply, recycling and waste management, renewable energies and energy efficiency as well as mobility. The increasing demand for solutions in these areas due to environmental problems such as water scarcity, rising waste volumes and the need for alternative energies is driving the growth of these companies. The cooperation between Erste Asset Management and WWF enables a sustainable investment strategy, supported by an environmental advisory board of WWF. Please note that investments in securities entail risks in addition to the opportunities presented here.

Working together for a sustainable future

WWF and Erste Asset Management have been working together since 2006 to create a better world. With its expertise, WWF is one of the world's largest and most prominent environmental protection organisations.

Investment with WWF expertise

For the ERSTE WWF STOCK ENVIRONMENT, the responsible investment team at Erste Asset Management GmbH identifies companies that have a proven environmental benefit. These are reviewed by specialists from our cooperation partner WWF Austria as part of an additional ESG analysis. The results of this research are presented to the independent Environmental Advisory Board for a decision. The companies must primarily fulfil certain environmental factors, but social aspects such as occupational safety, human rights, etc. are also examined. High demands are also placed on corporate management and ethics.

WWF: Your money moves climate protection

The climate crisis and the loss of biodiversity threaten our livelihoods and require urgent action. Financial decisions play a decisive role in shaping a sustainable future. Investing in environmentally friendly projects and refraining from harmful activities can have a positive impact on the climate, nature and society. The WWF calls for money to be consciously channelled towards a sustainable future and thus contribute to overcoming global challenges.

Lively rivers and natural paradises

Rivers are among Austria's most important ecosystems. However, only 14 per cent of water bodies are in very good condition. The reason for this is the high degree of development for the utilisation of hydropower, extensive development of the valleys as well as harsh regulations and water abstraction.

The need for action to protect the last intact rivers and for the ecological restoration of impaired water bodies is enormous, especially in view of the climate crisis. This is why the WWF is committed to protecting Austria's last intact rivers. Pristine gorges, rapids, alluvial forests and meander loops are to be protected and restored by revitalising the original river dynamics. With the help of Erste Asset Management, large and small-scale renaturalisation measures have been successfully implemented throughout Austria over the years, for example on the River Inn.

Protecting forests in Southeast Asia

Part of the income from the fund is channelled into one of the largest contiguous forest areas in Southeast Asia. From the subtropical evergreen deciduous forests in the north to the dry deciduous forests in the south of Southeast Asia, the Dawna-Tenasserim region is one of the world's unique ecoregions. Around 82 per cent of the 180,000 square kilometres are still completely forested and a veritable treasure trove of biodiversity.

The landscape is home to seven of the eleven cat species found in Southeast Asia: tiger, leopard, clouded leopard, Asian golden cat, jungle cat, marbled cat and leopard cat. Georg Scattolin, Head of WWF Global Solutions Programme: "This wealth of wild cat biodiversity is only surpassed by a few other global locations. As this is the last stronghold of viable tiger populations in Southeast Asia, there are high hopes that conservation efforts in the region can ensure the survival of the last tigers."
